A popular option for many visitors is renting a campervan. You can then stay at one of Wanaka's campsites, and explore the beautiful area in the weekends and when your course is over. Daily rates go from about $50 to $150. This depends on the time of the year, how long you rent the van for, the size and type of van. It is easy to pick up a campervan in Christchurch, and this is about 5 hours by road to Wanaka. It's a beautiful drive!
